SUBJECT:Minute Action Approving Response to the 2020-2021 Grand Jury Report Entitled “Does Bias Infiltrate Solano County Law Enforcement?”

RECOMMENDED ACTION 

Approve the response letter to the Grand Jury.

STATEMENT OF ISSUE 

The 2020-2021 Solano County Grand Jury issued a report entitled “Does Bias Infiltrate Solano County Law Enforcement?"  In the report, there are six findings and ten recommendations that the City Manager and Chief of Police need to respond to in writing.  The response requires City Council concurrence. 

DISCUSSION

State law requires the City of Fairfield to respond to findings and recommendations contained in the 2020-2021 Solano County Grand Jury report entitled “Does Bias Infiltrate Solano County Law Enforcement?” The report contains six findings and ten recommendations pertaining to matters under control of the City. City staff partially agrees with the findings and recommendations contained in the report and is asking council to approve the attached letter.
