| | | | | | | | | STATEMENT OF ISSUE | In the past year, there has been a marked increase in hate crimes, attacks, and violence throughout the country. The proposed resolution condemns acts of discrimination and violence against all people, regardless of race, ethnicity, religion, national origin, background, gender or sexual orientation, and reaffirms the City's commitment to ensure the citizens of Fairfield feel safe and welcome. |

| | | | | | | | | DISCUSSION | As our country struggles with racial divides, our country has seen a marked increase in hate crimes, attacks, and violence. The City of Fairfield is committed to working towards solutions that ensure all members of our City are safe and welcome. Together, we have a responsibility and a moral obligation to confront and eliminate discrimination against all people, regardless of race, ethnicity, religion, national origin, background, gender or sexual orientation.
The proposed resolution will denounce acts of discrimination and violence against all persons and reaffirm the City's commitment to ensure all of our citizens are safe and welcome in our City. This resolution also encourages our citizens to join the City in condemning this type of behavior and conduct. Our City is committed to the inclusion and advancement of diversity and equity of all people, and this resolution is a statement of that commitment.
