FROM:

Stefan T. Chatwin, City Manager

SUBJECT:Resolution 2020-55 of the City Council of the City of Fairfield Accepting the City Hall Elevator Modernization Project as Complete

RECOMMENDED ACTION
Adopt resolution.
STATEMENT OF ISSUE
The contract work for the City Hall Elevator Modernization Project is complete and ready for acceptance by the City Council.
DISCUSSION
The City Hall Elevator Modernization Project consisted of replacing worn/damaged parts and bringing the system into compliance with current building codes.  Construction on both elevator cars were completed in December 2019 and fully operational in January 2020. Accepting the project as complete will relieve the contractor of their monthly maintenance responsibility during the modernization portion of the project. Staff is working towards executing a separate contract for on-going maintenance for an additional three-year period. The maintenance contract is for the elevators located at City Hall and at the Cordelia Library.

The City Council awarded a contract for the Project to Elevator Industries Inc. on December 18, 2018, by Resolution 2018-298. The total City Council authorized budget was $434,320. Elevator Industries Inc. has completed all of the required work in accordance with the contract. The final cost for the Project is $424,830, which is 2.2% under the amount authorized by the City Council.

FINANCIAL IMPACT
The project was budgeted through the Public Building Capital Project fund. No other funds was expended.
